[/stb:mod]Lotus Elise joins BTCC support - 11-Aug-1999
The Lotus Elise will be featured in next year's TOCA support race
package for the British Touring Car Championship.
Lotus Motorsport will be filling the gap left by Vauxhall Motorsport,
after it withdraws from the support package.
'Lotus is one of the most coveted names in world motor racing and
we are delighted to welcome them to the TOCA package,' said Alan
Gow, chief executive of race organisers TOCA.
'The new Elise series will offer a terrific spectacle for fans.'
Gow revealed that TOCA would not be replacing both the Vauxhall
championships with new events.
'Rather, we will be inviting guest series to join us at selected
rounds, guaranteeing a variety of top-class racing for the public,'
he added.
