Das habe ich beim Stöbern in einem anderen Forum gefunden.
To give you some background about the product, we started this several months ago. As we've seen a few induction kits specifically for the Elise at fancy prices we thought we'd be able to
do the same or better for less...
We've done some RR tests with the basic product in different forms and didn't get the results we wanted to see (+power/+torque). At the end, we have consulted a company specialised in
flow simulations.
These people have entered the side of the Elise and our Hurricane induction system in their system. The recommendations they made have all been taken in account. (that is... we didn't
think you would be interested in an extra ear on the side of your Elise ;)
The Elise kit consists of a connection pipe between TB and the Airbox including adapter and fitting material.
At the other side of the airbox, there is a ducting hose (double sided) which connects to an adapter for the air vent. The adapter has also been specifically designed for the Elise.
Next was to find a RR which has a realistic side air flow generation. (80 miles @ the wheels should be 80 miles air @ the air vent!!) We found one.. McLaren, but didn't succeed to get in
obviously.
Keeping that in mind, we don't want to be connected to a 'snake oil' like campaign and decided to stick to "more power, more torque" which is safe to say but not very specific.
What we found when we played around at the RR with a 160BHP Elise (std tuning) is +3BHP,+6Nm (where's that converter??;)
What really made us very confident is the feeling of the car. We tested the airbox at several Elises and we tested these Elises back to back to others. The engine revs up pretty quick
compared to other filters.
Oh, yes, this sure is a cone shaped filter. The difference between this and others is only one thing: turbulence, or better, the lack of it!
As you might have seen, we also sell K&N. There is no Phase II available for the Elise, no plans either. The roll out of phase II kits is very slow up till now..
